Brookneal Teen Dies In Sunday Morning Crash
A Brookneal teen has become the 11th traffic fatality of 2008 on Halifax County roads, according to the state police.
Investigation Continues In Riverdale Shooting
Authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred in Riverdale Wednesday night, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin. He referred all questions to State Police Division III Information Officer Sgt. Dave Cooper who was not available for comment Sunday afternoon.

Scottsburg Celebrates 4th In Grand Style

A crowd estimated at more than 13,000 celebrated Independence Day in grand style Friday at Scottsburg’s annual July 4th celebration.
The day began with a parade at 10 a.m. and concluded with a street dance in the evening, with music, and the usual list of activities consuming the afternoon hours.
