Nocturnal Thieves Steal Radiators From Church

Nocturnal thieves stole four radiators from South Boston’s Main Street United Methodist Church last week, according to South Boston Police Capt. B.K. Lovelace.
The thieves struck sometime during the night of August 20, Lovelace said.
Officers were called to the church at 9:13 a.m. Thursday, August 21, after Main Street UMC Pastor Ed Rigg reported the theft of the radiators. The church had been undergoing a renovation project, and the four old radiators had been placed outside the building in a scrap metal bin, Lovelace said.
A neighbor called the police department Wednesday night and reported hearing clanking noises at the church, according to Lovelace. However, when night shift officers responded, they found nothing out of the ordinary, the captain said.
Officer D.G. DeGeorgis is the investigating officer.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the South Boston Police Department at 575-4273 or Crime Stoppers at 575-TIPS.
In sheriff’s office records, two county men have been charged with felony grand larceny of property valued at $200 or more.
Michael David Moore, 25, of Greenway Drive, South Boston, and Michael Blake Vaughan, 30, of Alphonse Dairy Road, South Boston, are each charged with the felony grand larceny of a 16-foot aluminum flat-bottom boat.
The offense is alleged to have occurred sometime August 8-9. Deputy A.W. Britton served the warrant on Moore Monday, and he served the warrant on Vaughan Friday.
Tony A. White, 30, of Ball Park Loop, Halifax, was served a capias for failure to appear in Halifax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on July 28.
Deputy J.P. Adams served the capias on White Monday.
