The Lighter Side Of Life
With all of the ongoing economic tumult in Washington and on Wall Street, we believe it’s time to look at the lighter side of life.
Sometimes you have to stop and do that to adjust your perspective. So for everyone who is tired of hearing of all the country’s many woes during this presidential election year, the following “lighter moments” are just for you.

Ol’ T. Boone’s Plan
Energy Independence, Investing Billions, Perhaps More: The Pickens’ Plan

Oilman T. Boone Pickens’ energy plan calls for billions, even a trillion or more, in investments, but he is pushing his alternative plan to put America on the road to energy independence - or at least less dependence on foreign oil.
God bless him.
The stance is taking the independent Texas oilman and GOP backer’s commitment to wind, natural gas and bio-fuels into new and strange territory this political season, a good thing as T. Boone calls on both presidential candidates to address the energy independence issue.

Remaking Old Movies
Have you taken a look at the movies Hollywood is cranking out? Aside from the regular blow up everything in sight movies for which the recent motion picture industry is famous, I’ve noticed several of the newer releases are remakes of older films.
For example, take the movie, “”3:10 To Yuma,” starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. If you’re an old-timer like me, you probably remember the 1957 version of that movie, which starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.



Talk Of The Town

Having been gone on vacation for the last couple of weeks, Ye Editor was unable to attend the funeral of Supervisor Dickie Abbott.
Dickie died July 14.
He much preferred to talk baseball than politics.
His favorite story involved Dick Groat, an all-star short-stop for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Groat was a member of the old South Boston Wrappers, and it seems that he was late for one of their games.
