Details were sketchy Sunday afternoon, but authorities said a South Boston man was airlifted to Lynchburg General Hospital Saturday following a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at the intersection of Westside Drive and Sinai Road.

According to investigating Trooper D. H. Hess, Shawn Lee Jennings was operating a dirt bike when he failed to stop for a stop sign and came out of Westside Drive making a left turn onto Sinai Road into the path of a Ford Ranger driven by Sandra Whitlock of Vernon Hill.

The accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Hess said.

No other details were available at press time, and Hess said he expected to have a completed accident report Monday.
