American Legion Post 8 was among the veteran organizations participating in Saturday’s Veterans Day Parade held in downtown South Boston.

The parade featured over 50 units including 5th District commanders from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, the Halifax County High School Blue Comet Marching Band and JROTC unit and numerous antique cars and trucks.

Following the parade, a crowd gathered at Constitution Square to hear speeches by Fifth District American Legion Commander William Stevens and Fifth District VFW Commander Dan Boyer.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks and stew also were available for purchase in Constitution Square.
