BROOKNEAL WINE FESTIVAL JULY 17: Red Hill is the venue for the Brookneal Chamber’s inaugural wine festival from 2 to 7 p.m. Wine tastings, food, live music, artisans and more. Advance tickets are $15 and at-the-gate $20.

BOSOM BUDDIES SUPPORT GROUP: Meetings are held on the second Monday in October, December, February, April, June and August at 7 p.m. in the Edmunds Room at Halifax Regional Hospital. This group welcomes anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

JOHN M. JORDAN CAMP NO. 581 SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS HISTORICAL HONOR SOCIETY MEETING MONDAY: The meeting is at Spare Times Grill for dinner, and at 6 p.m. Judd C. Jackson of Charlotte County will speak. He will discuss his great-grandfather Major Daniel Jackson, USA, who entered the union Army from his hometown in New York. Major Jackson was in charge of the surrender of Confederate soldiers at the Battle of Sailor’s Creek before Lee surrendered to Grant at the McLean house in Appomattox.
