AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOODMOBILES JULY 12-13: The bloodmobiles will be held at the American Legion Post 8, South Boston, July 12 from 2 to 7 p.m., and Mary Bethune Complex, Halifax, July 13 from noon to 6 p.m.

BROOKNEAL WINE FESTIVAL JULY 17: Red Hill is the venue for the Brookneal Chamber’s inaugural wine festival from 2 to 7 p.m. Wine tastings, food, live music, artisans and more. Advance tickets are $15 and at-the-gate $20.

NAMI MEETING: The Halifax County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI - Halifax County) will hold its meetings on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the South Boston Church of Christ, 3501 Halifax Rd. BOSOM BUDDIES SUPPORT GROUP: Meetings are held on the second Monday in October, December, February, April, June and August at 7 p.m. in the Edmunds Room at Halifax Regional Hospital. This group welcomes anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

SOUTH BOSTON WEEKLY AA MEETINGS: Mondays at 8 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church (closed meeting); Wednesdays/Fridays at noon and Thursdays at 8 p.m. (also Al-Anon meeting) at First Presbyterian Church.

JOHN M. JORDAN CAMP NO. 581 SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS HISTORICAL HONOR SOCIETY MEETING MONDAY: The meeting is at Spare Times Grill for dinner, and at 6 p.m. Judd C. Jackson of Charlotte County will speak. He will discuss his great-grandfather Major Daniel Jackson, USA, who entered the union Army from his hometown in New York. Major Jackson was in charge of the surrender of Confederate soldiers at the Battle of Sailor’s Creek before Lee surrendered to Grant at the McLean house in Appomattox.
