Mecklenburg authorities are investigating human remains found on a shoreline near Carter’s Point in the Buffalo Junction area.

Details remained sketchy at press time, but shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department confirmed skeletal remains had been found at the site off Poodle Lake.

Deputies and crime scene investigators were dispatched and remained on site, according to the sheriff’s office.
