Mrs. Annie Evelyn Collins Simon of Saluda’s Lane, Clover died Monday, July 26, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 86.
Mrs. Simon was born in Clover Oct. 29, 1928 to the late Mr. Samuel Evans Collins and Mrs. Narcissie Cousins Collins.
She was married to the late Mr. Winfred Early Simon Sr. and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Simon is survived by five daughters, Mrs. YuVaughn Simon-Stokes of Virgilina, Mrs. Priscilla Bouldin of Scottsburg, Ms. LaVonia Tisdale of Chesterfield, Ms. Orealia Simon of Richmond and Mrs. Nettie Simon-Owens of South Boston; two sons, Mr. Kirkland Simon Sr. and Mr. Winfred Simon Jr., both of Clover; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ms. Alice Collins, Ms. Zelder Collins and Mrs. Cissie Brown, all of Clover, and Mrs. Easter Wilborne of Richmond; two sons-in-law, the Rev. Kenneth Stokes and Mr. Edward Owens; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Linda Simon; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Liddie of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Simon was preceded in death by one son, Mr. James Alvin Simon; three brothers, William, George and Jacob; and one sister, Eliza Frances.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Stokes, 7208 East Hyco Road, Virgilina. Arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home, North Main Street, South Boston. |
