Mr. Thomas Cleveland Dunaway of Spring Hope, N.C., formerly of the Rodden community in Halifax County, died at his home July 27, 2010. He was born in Halifax County Oct. 25, 1942 and was 67 years old. He was the son of the late John Manning Dunaway and Mildred Edna Medley Dunaway and was married to Judy Wade Dunaway. Mr. Dunaway was a maintenance tech with the Sharon Harris Nuclear Power Plant and was a member of Halifax Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Donna D. Abernathy of Spring Hope, Robin D. Kearney of Kittrell, N.C. and Terry Leigh Dunaway of Spring Hope; two brothers, Tex Dunaway of Wyoming and James Dunaway of Halifax; one sister, Brenda D. Short of Halifax; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. One daughter, Judy Ann Dunaway, also preceded Mr. Dunaway in death.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Collins and Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Baptist Church Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 and other times at the home of Brenda and Ronnie Short, 1185 Sweeney Trail, Halifax.
