Supplies of the vaccines to protect against the 2009 H1N1 virus are increasing, and the vaccination is now available to anyone who wants it, according to the Virginia Department of Health. Dr. Charles Devine, health director for the Southside Health District said, “We are still seeing cases of influenza caused by the 2009 H1N1 virus.

“The virus remains circulating within the community,” he explained. “This vaccine is the best way to protect against the pandemic virus.”

The Halifax County, Mecklenburg County and Brunswick County health departments are providing free H1N1 vaccines to the public.

Walk-in clinics are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at each office location.

Call the Halifax County Health Department at (434) 476-4863 for additional information about the vaccine or walk-in clinics.
