Staunton River State Park is vying for $100,000 in Coke’s new “America’s Favorite Park” online contest, and Park Manager Josh Ellington is seeking support from the community to help the local park win big-time.

As teachers report for work this week (new teachers reported on Monday and returning ones report tomorrow), the opening of schools in Halifax County cannot be far behind. In fact, the first day for students is Monday, Aug. 16.
